The selection process for Take Stock in Children begins in the second semester of each school year. Applications are distributed to eighth graders in Collier County and must be completed by the student and his/her parents.
In order to be considered for selection as a Take Stock in Children Scholar, a student must:
Have a proven financial need - live below the federal poverty income level.
Be in the eighth grade.
Possess a strong determination to succeed.
A team of community volunteers from education, business and non-profit review and score all applications received. The students with the highest application scores are invited for a personal interview. This same team conducts interviews with students and their parents to make a final decision.
