Encouraging local, talented students to teach
in Collier County
Collier County Public Schools is building a program to cultivate Home Grown Teachers - ones who graduate from Collier County high schools and pursue an education degree to become teachers.
The Home Grown Teachers scholarship is an opportunity for deserving students who are enrolled in Teaching Academies. These academies provide students with a mentor that qualifies them for this unique scholarship. Students must meet free and reduced lunch guidelines, commit to remain drug and crime-free and complete their Teaching Academy curriculum. Students are then eligible to apply for a 2+2 four year tuition scholarship through a matching grant provided by the Florida Prepaid Foundation.
Support the Home Grown Teachers Scholarship Fund though your Payroll Deduction
Our Home Grown Teachers program is a public-private collaboration to achieve student success through mentorship, accountability and scholarships. The Education Foundation is able to purchase these four year tuition scholarships for $7,500. Last year through the payroll deduction program and generous support from Wal-Mart, we were able to purchase 2 scholarships. Your contribution, large or small, toward this local investment will collectively help a student fulfill their dream to become an educator.
The Education Foundation is committing all monies raised through its Collier County Public Schools employee payroll deduction to support the Home Grown Teachers program.
Please sign up today and help a worthy student to pursue a college education and return to teach in Collier County!
