Scripps Howard and Naples Daily News Support Education

On January 12th educators and community leaders joined The Education Foundation of Collier County staff in accepting two grant checks totaling $30,000 from Scripps Howard Foundation and the Naples Daily News in support of Connect Now Community Engagement and Family Literacy programs.

Mike Philipps, President and CEO of Scripps Howard Foundation visiting Naples from Cincinnati, OH, Debbie Landreth, Controller of the Naples Daily News and Dave Neill, President and Publisher of the Naples Daily News presented the grant checks. “We are honored to help support the programs of The Education Foundation of Collier County, stated Dave Neill.”

It was the perfect opportunity for a variety of people who have benefited from Scripps Howard’s generous support to gather at The Education Foundation offices and thank their foundation and the Naples Daily News.  Educators were given the opportunity to talk about the positive impact of The Education Foundation programs to their students and classrooms which are a result of this type of community support.  Community leaders talked about the experience of participating in Connect Now and how much the support of that program has meant to Collier County.

The Naples Daily News has been a media sponsor of The Education Foundation for 21 years!  They have been a partner since the beginning assisting us with everything from recognizing quality teachers to coverage of Connect with a Classroom grant deliveries to printing and distributing our Connect Now statement and more!  They are a wonderful example of a company that is giving back in a way that improves quality of life to assure a brighter future to their community.
