McManus Named to Consortium of Florida Education Foundations Statewide Board of Directors

The Consortium of Florida Education Foundations (CFEF) recently appointed Susan McManus, President of The Education Foundation of Collier County, as a Member at Large.  McManus is one of five state-wide, who along with three other officers, govern the CFEF.

The CFEF is the membership organization for Florida’s district-wide local education foundations.  This consortium of Florida education foundations was established in 1987 and has 55 member foundations who are members.  Collectively there are 1,100 volunteer board members who raise more than $40 million annually to support students, teachers and schools through a variety of programs.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to help serve my colleagues around the state,” states McManus.  “This kind of collaboration cultivates the sharing of resources in a way that can impact education in the state of Florida, in addition to better serving education in Collier County.”

The Consortium of Florida Education Foundations’ School District Matching Grant Program provides each school district, through their designated K-12 local education foundation the opportunity to strengthen private/public partnerships by offering private donors the incentive of matching funds from the State of Florida.

McManus also serves on the board of the Lastinger Center for Learning of the University of Florida which utilizes the intellectual and research capabilities of the University of Florida to partner with educational, philanthropic and community-based institutions to promote high quality teaching, improve school performance, develop educational leaders, secure parental engagement and mobilize communities to meet the needs of children.  (http://www.coe.ufl.edu/Centers/Lastinger/)
